Spoons Toons & Booze is going to the movies! In the style of our Saturday morning-inspired shows, we’ll be revisiting some classic animated feature films from the 80s and 90s, many of which aren’t streaming and probably never will be! Whether you saw these gems in the theater as a kid, happened upon them at your local Blockbuster - or didn’t even know they existed - we promise a whole lot of unintentionally hilarious animated fun.  

First up: The Care Bears Movie! The year: 1985. The plot: A young magician's assistant falls prey to an evil spirit (aka that creepy book face lady) intent on destroying all happiness in the world. It is then up to a group of Care Bears, with help from a couple of orphans, to stop the spirit using their caring belly-based powers. All that plus Mickey Rooney starring as a kindly orphanage manager! Don’t miss what was Canada’s highest-grossing film of 1985! LOL!
