Spoons Toons & Booze is going to the movies! In the style of our Saturday morning-inspired shows, we’ll be revisiting some classic animated feature films from the 80s and 90s, many of which aren’t streaming and probably never will be! Whether you saw these gems in the theater as a kid, happened upon them at your local Blockbuster - or didn’t even know they existed - we promise a whole lot of unintentionally hilarious animated fun.
Now Playing: The Chipmunk Adventure. The year: 1987. The Plot: While Dave is in Europe on a business trip, Alvin, Simon and Theodore and Chipettes Brittany, Jeanette, and Eleanor are tricked into smuggling diamonds under the guise of a hot air balloon race around the globe for the two chipmunk teams. During their "Adventure," the chipmunks are almost eaten by sharks, turned into child brides, captured by "native tribes,” and sacrificed to a crocodile, all the while being pursued by international diamond smugglers. Come for...those nostalgic Chipmunk voices! Stay for...all the problematic stuff you missed as a child!
Plus: After the movie we'll be screening Rockin' with the Chipmunks, a Chipmunks made-for-TV special starring the Fresh Prince (aka Will Smith), Ben Vereen, Kenny Loggins, Raven-Symone, Shelley Duvall, Little Richard and more! And: Because we want #JusticeForTheRescueRangers, we'll play a bonus episode of Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers, the superior chipmunk offering (do not @ us).
